This started as part of the Phoenix Food People project. I was asked to participate by Kevin Layshock and was thrilled that I could revisit a favorite character of mine for Shortleash - the dog off the leash. I love that illustration and wanted to do a new version of him. In the end, Shortleash used the illustration for shirts for their anniversary, but the Phoenix Food crew was hoping I'd do something more in my traditional engraving style, so I'm making a 3rd version that I'm super excited about - taking the dog into a new realm!

Love. I truly love Kat and the crew at Shortleash. AND WE'VE NEVER MET. Seriously though, I'm a complete fanboy of that place and their support of the community. From being the venue for the Pinewood classic (that let me relive the days of my childhood but so much better), to being a supporter of the arts in Phoenix, I feel like I owe them personally, so whenever I get the chance, I want to do things with and for them. Oh, and they make spectacular hotdogs. And donuts.
