At Grand Canyon University, Welcome Week is one of the biggest events of the year! Each year, GCU releases an engaging campaign to equip students and families with information needed for a smooth move-in process and to get students to attend one of the many events that can engage them in their new college community. The campaign is also important in motivating returning students to volunteer to assist new students during Welcome Week.
The client wanted the agency to create a fresh design for 2024 Welcome Week collateral to address the issue of a unique theme that would attract the approximately 8,000 new students during a period of great change, but also re-engage returning students who are used to seeing Welcome Week collateral.
The resulting visual concept incorporated the bright and vibrant colors of this year’s trending gradients and used fun imagery to help convey movement and excitement throughout each piece. The design also incorporated diamond elements in backgrounds and icons to help convey the secondary piece of this campaign, which was GCU’s 75th anniversary. The 75th year is a diamond anniversary, so each campaign piece incorporated this in some way.

24,000 save-the-date postcards advertising Welcome Week were distributed to GCU students and their families, resulting in a successful kickoff to the semester for new and returning students.
