Published by National Bank of Arizona, Elevate AZ celebrates the people, places and businesses that make Arizona a vibrant place to live, work and dream.
Part marketing piece, part editorial publication, the magazine's purpose is two-fold: 1) to provide the community with valuable insights on Arizona's financial health and economic development, while sharing information on the bank's product offerings; and 2) to showcase the bank's commitment to highlighting the people and businesses that shape Arizona’s unique culture and spirit.
For National Bank of Arizona, Elevate AZ is significant in that it underscores the bank’s dedication to fostering connections and partnerships vital for local growth. For PB+J Creative, this project exemplifies our commitment to crafting compelling narratives, stunning photography and innovative design that resonate with our client and their audience.
We launched the magazine with National Bank of Arizona in September 2014. In a time when the shelf life of print publications has become shorter and shorter, this project stands as a testament to how a well-designed magazine can educate, inspire and elevate Arizona’s communities.

In a time when print publications face many challenges, this year, we found ourselves not only navigating change, but embracing it. Creating magazines that thrive in a digital landscape is what we do. Each page, each image, each word is carefully crafted to captivate the viewer and engage the reader. To the future generation of designers, we say this: In a world dazzled by screens, the tactile sensation of a well-designed magazine remains timeless. Magazine design involves looking beyond a flat, one-dimensional surface. Instead, it considers real-life factors: How will the cover stand out when it’s placed on a rack with other publications? How will story spreads draw the reader in as it sits open on a coffee table? What will catch the viewer’s eye? In the grand landscape of Arizona’s design community, we are committed to not only celebrating the art of magazine design, but also preserving it.
