With a history spanning more than 60 years, Grand Canyon University’s Ethington Theatre is home to a variety of arts events including award-winning student performances. These performances offer many unique and exciting opportunities for students who dream of successful careers in the entertainment and production industry.
Inspired by the impressive lineup of performances selected by Ethington Theatre, the GCU marketing team chose a “Telling Our Stories” theme for the 2022-23 season, which featured a variety of shows that were sure to appeal to the audience’s taste. This season featured everything from Shakespeare classics to charming musicals featuring a well-known cast of cartoon characters who live under the sea.
This marketing campaign consisted of many assets including video, photography, email, social media, season posters and more, with a season brochure mailer being a significant asset in the campaign’s success. With consideration for the colors, imagery and typography that evoked the essence of each performance, the designer created a full season brochure mailer that included posters for each of the following shows:
• Hamlet
• SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical
• Winter Dance Concert: Flourish
• Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead
• Big Fish
• Spring Dance Concert: When We Rise
The approved design was paired with creative, succinct and purposeful copy to make the season collateral come to life. This brochure mailer was sent to students and the surrounding community, contributing not only to increased ticket sales, but to an increase in direct donations to Ethington Theatre.
